Summer Hair Care
As summer rolls around, it's time to re-energize your hair from roots to tips to strengthen it for the whole year. Time to cuddle and leave it as free as possible.
If you are swimming regularly, Takamichi, a specialist of Japanese hair grooming, suggests skipping the daily shampoo; just rinsing your hair is enough; add some conditioner if it's dry. (Takamichi recommends Japanese hair products with camellia seed oil to nourish hair) Reducing the number of times per week that you shampoo your hair will help prevent drying out and maintain natural oils. Gentle towel (no rubbing!) and air dry whenever possible. This will help reduce the amount of heat and styling tools used on it, helping protect it from damage.
Gentle scrub the scalp on a regular basis to help to remove the build-up of old skin cells stimulates microcirculation, and soften the scalp for silkier hair.
Rinse your hair by mixing 2 cups of lukewarm water with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a bottle or bowl: the vinegar tightens the cuticle, boosts the shine of the hair, revitalizes the scalp, and energizes curly hair incredibly.
For extra glow, finish with cold water.
Don't tie your hair too firmly with a rubber band on the beach: you have to let it breathe; use as few hair styling products as possible, as they might interact poorly with the sun.
Wear a hat to protect your scalp and SPF hair oil.
And as always, massage your scalp daily and never ever sleep or nap with wet hair.
