A handbuilt ceramic vase in deep midnight blue and white — a glossy globe for a body, a textured white neck rising from it with a wavy open rim, and two flat round handles sitting at the shoulders like ears, or wings, or something that doesn't quite have a name yet. Where the blue meets the white, bronze glaze bleeds through in dark, irregular strokes. The kiln did something interesting here and Mariette Groen let it.
At 7 inches tall, a 2.25" opening and with a generous 6-inch diameter at the largest, the Moon Vase is a presence. It holds the room without competing with it. The opening is good for loose arrangements — or a few stems that don't need to try very hard to look right in something this considered.
Every angle is different. That's the point.
WHY IT'S SPECIAL
- Deep midnight blue glaze on a rounded globe form: high-gloss, reflective, and entirely its own.
- Matte white textured neck with wavy rim: a deliberate contrast in surface, finish, and feeling.
- Two flat round handles: hand-applied, quietly sculptural — they give the piece its character and its name.
- Bronze glaze at the shoulder: where the two glazes meet, the kiln decided the rest.
- Wide opening at 2.25": generous enough for full arrangements, interesting enough to leave empty.

THE BRAND
Catto Studio is the ceramic practice of Mariette Groen — handbuilt objects that sit between utility and storytelling. Inspired by natural forms, seasonal rhythms, and the slow logic of making things by hand, each piece is meant to be lived with quietly. Not decorative in the obvious sense. More like something that belongs wherever you put it, and you can't quite imagine the room without it anymore.
