The second composition in the Takamichi scent house, Daidō is a tribute to Tokyo after dark. Inspired by quiet alleys, mineral air, and the inky depth of sumi-e painting, the fragrance moves between clarity and shadow.
Rock salt and birch open into cool spices and sandalwood, settling into hinoki wood, leather, and smoke. Dry, mineral, and atmospheric—designed to create presence without excess.
Hand-poured in small batches in the USA using plant-based wax and a cotton wick for a clean, even burn. The candle is housed in a square midnight-blue glass vessel, finished with a minimalist letterpress label.

THE BRAND
Takamichi is the in-house scent house founded by New York hairstylist Takamichi Saeki. Each composition begins as an atmosphere—translated into candle, room spray, or body and hair care depending on its natural form.
The first fragrance was created for Nine Orchard, where it lives throughout the hotel. Daidō is the second composition, expanding the scent house into darker, more introspective territory. Together, they form a growing olfactive library designed to bring clarity, calm, and quiet presence to both space and self.
Takamichi has been featured in The New York Times, Forbes, and Domino.
