A first-harvest sencha green tea in single-serving sticks, stone-milled to a fine powder. Where The Nodoka's Premium Matcha is shade-grown and umami-rich, this sencha is sun-grown — and the difference is in the cup. Sencha grown in full sunlight develops a fuller spectrum of catechins, vitamin C, and minerals, and a flavor that balances three things simultaneously: the sweetness of the first flush, the umami depth of a well-cultivated leaf, and the gentle astringency that gives green tea its characteristic edge.
The result is a tea that is brighter and more bracing than matcha — green, vegetal, slightly grassy, with a clean finish. The kind of tea you drink in the morning to wake up, not in the evening to wind down. Made from naturally cultivated ichibancha (first-harvest leaves), stone-milled to a fine powder, organic JAS certified.
Tear open a stick, add to water hot or cold, whisk or shake well. The powder is finely milled whole tea leaf — it suspends in the water rather than dissolving, the same way matcha does, so a good stir or shake is essential. Drink straight, or use as a base for lattes, smoothies, baking, or anywhere you'd use matcha but want something brighter and more vegetal.
30 single-serving sticks. 2g per stick.
WHY IT'S SPECIAL
- First-harvest sencha (ichibancha): the prized spring flush, with the highest concentration of nutrients and the most balanced flavor profile of any harvest.
- Sun-grown: unlike matcha, which is shade-grown for umami, sencha is grown in full sunlight — producing higher levels of catechins, vitamin C, and minerals.
- Three flavors in balance: sweetness, umami, and gentle astringency, all present at once. The hallmark of a well-grown ichibancha sencha.
- Whole leaf, stone-milled to powder: drinking the powder means consuming the entire tea leaf — nutrients, fiber, and aromatics that infusion leaves behind in the pot.
- Naturally cultivated, organic JAS certified: grown without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, certified to Japan's organic agricultural standard.
- Single-serving sticks: 2g per stick — pre-measured, sealed for freshness, designed for portability.
HOW TO USE
Hot: Empty one stick into 150ml of hot water (around 75–80°C / 167–176°F). Whisk or stir vigorously until the powder is fully suspended. Drink immediately.
Cold: Empty one stick into a sealed bottle with 150–200ml of cold water. Shake until fully suspended. Add ice. Stir occasionally as you sip — like all stone-milled tea powders, the powder will settle if left still.
As a base: Use in lattes, smoothies, baking, ice cream, or savory cooking. The vegetal, slightly bitter character pairs particularly well with citrus, honey, and dairy.

THE BRAND
The Nodoka is a Japanese tea brand built around a single conviction: tea should be easy to drink and good for you, without compromising on quality. The brand works with farms across Japan that practice natural cultivation — no synthetic fertilizers, no pesticides — and processes the leaves into stone-milled powder rather than loose leaf. The powder format means the entire leaf is consumed, retaining nutrients and aromatics that infusion alone leaves behind in the pot. Hojicha, matcha, sencha — all available in single-serving sticks designed to fit a contemporary daily routine without sacrificing the ceremony.
