A roasted green tea (hojicha) powder in single-serving sticks, made from a rare first-harvest leaf rather than the autumn bancha most hojicha is made from. The Nodoka takes naturally cultivated ichibancha — the prized first flush of the tea season, typically reserved for high-grade sencha and gyokuro — and roasts it gently to draw out the toasted, nutty aromatics of hojicha while preserving the underlying sweetness of the spring leaf. The result reads as cleaner, less smoky, and noticeably more refined than conventional hojicha.
Cold-brew friendly, which is the point in summer. Tear open a stick, empty the powder into water, add ice, stir well. The powder is finely milled whole tea leaf — it suspends in the water rather than dissolving, the same way matcha does, so a good stir or shake is essential. The result is a tea that's lightly sweet, deeply aromatic, and immediately cooling. Works just as well in hot water. The format is built for daily use: throw a few sticks in a bag and you have iced hojicha at the office, on a flight, at a picnic, wherever you are.
Naturally low in caffeine — gentle enough for children, elderly drinkers, evening cups. Rich in vitamin C, theanine, and pyrazine, the aromatic compound that gives roasted tea its character. Organic JAS certified.
Available in two formats: a bag of 8 sticks for trial, or 30 sticks for daily use.
WHY IT'S SPECIAL
- Made from rare ichibancha (first-harvest leaves): a meaningful upgrade — most hojicha is made from autumn bancha, which is lower-grade and harsher. The Nodoka uses the spring first flush, gently roasted to preserve its underlying sweetness.
- Naturally cultivated, organic JAS certified: grown without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, certified to Japan's organic agricultural standard.
- Whole leaf, stone-milled to powder: drinking the powder means consuming the entire tea leaf — nutrients, fiber, and aromatics that infusion leaves behind in the pot.
- Cold-brew ready: works in cold or hot water. No steeping required, no straining, ready in seconds.
- Naturally low in caffeine: safe for children, elderly drinkers, and anyone wanting tea in the evening without worrying about sleep.
- Single-serving sticks: 2g per stick, designed for portability and precision. No measuring, no mess.
HOW TO USE
Cold: Empty one stick into 100–150ml of cold water. Stir well or shake in a sealed bottle until the powder is fully suspended. Add ice. Drink immediately and stir occasionally as you sip — like matcha, the powder is a suspension of finely milled leaf, so it will settle if left still.
Hot: Empty one stick into 100–150ml of hot water (around 80°C / 176°F). Whisk or stir vigorously until fully suspended.
As a base: Use in lattes, smoothies, baking, ice cream, or anywhere you'd use matcha powder. The roasted character pairs particularly well with milk and warm spices.

THE BRAND
The Nodoka is a Japanese tea brand built around a single conviction: tea should be easy to drink and good for you, without compromising on quality. The brand works with farms across Japan that practice natural cultivation — no synthetic fertilizers, no pesticides — and processes the leaves into stone-milled powder rather than loose leaf. The powder format means the entire leaf is consumed, retaining nutrients and aromatics that infusion alone leaves behind in the pot. Hojicha, matcha, sencha — all available in single-serving sticks designed to fit a contemporary daily routine without sacrificing the ceremony.
