Iris Pallida is a dedication to the elusive iris flower and the powdery‑woody aroma extracted from its rhizomes. It takes nearly a thousand kilograms of dried rhizomes—cured for four years—to yield just two kilograms of precious iris butter. Marie Jeanne spent a year refining a formula that blends iris Florentina butter, iris Pallida butter and iris Germanica absolute to create a modern iris perfume that moves away from dated violet interpretations. At 28 % fragrance concentration it is diffusive yet delicately elegant. Perfumer Alexis Dadier sets the iris accord on a pedestal of sandalwood, patchouli and vetiver for a sensual, contemporary finish.

THE BRAND
Marie Jeanne uses natural, cruelty-free natural essences in all its products. Working with Robertet perfumers, Marie Jeanne founder George Maubert – scion of a family that has been very influential in the perfume industry since 1850 – focuses on creating stripped-down, elegant compositions that emphasize the native variety of their ingredients.
Robertet is a bit like De Beers of the fine natural perfume materials - matières premières; for decades, they have been dealing with the finest, purest, and most precious stuff a perfumer can dream of.
