THE BRAND
CATTO Design Studio is based in Brooklyn, NY, founded by Dutch artist Mariette Groen. Influenced by her Dutch roots, her daily life in New York, and extended time in India, Italy, and London, Groen’s ceramics balance function and artistry. Pieces are mostly hand-built, sometimes wheel-thrown, and always reflect an organic process where experimentation leads the way. “You open the kiln, and there is a big surprise; I love that,” she notes. CATTO’s evolving style conveys beauty, airiness, and often a touch of humor—creating ceramics that are cherished daily as both decorative and functional objects.
