Confiture Parisienne likes to take you into uncharted territory with recipes that may seem classic but have that little extra ingredient.
To kick off the festive season, they created fig jam with blackcurrant pepper. It's all French, of course, and still made in their Paris laboratory!
A jam that will work just as well in the morning on your toast as it will at mealtime with a cheese platter.
But what is blackcurrant pepper? It's a spice made from powdered blackcurrant buds. The buds used in this way do not have the sweet taste of blackcurrants but add a little “pepperiness” while retaining the slight acidity of the blackcurrant.
With its woody, floral notes, this spice enhances the “round” taste of the (very) large pieces of figs for a unique, addictive recipe.
Tasting Tips
SWEET: On toast, pancake, scone, or cottage cheese. SAVOURY: with foie gras, on an old cheese such as comté or gouda.
Confiture Parisienne recipes have unexpected flavors. They are made according to traditional, artisanal methods, without additives or preservatives. Cooked in small batches in copper cauldrons, each jam is lovingly prepared with a balance of ingredients that lets each one express its flavor to the fullest. In the Confiture Parisienne atelier, all fruit is selected at the peak of the season in close collaboration with small orchard farmers passionate about their produce.

THE BRAND
In 2015, to revive a Parisian tradition, Nadège Gaultier and Laura Goninet founded Confiture Parisienne. They wanted to create exceptional jams using equally exceptional ingredients.
Since ancient times, foodies have developed various recipes for preserving fruits by cooking them with wine or honey.
But to taste jams as we know them, you have to wait for the first crusades and the introduction of cane sugar from the Arab world. This luxury food allows fruit transformation into jam, only reserved for royal tables. At the beginning of the 19th century, beet sugar production democratized this product. Many jam makers opened their stalls in Paris and supplied themselves with fruit from the surrounding orchards.
