THE BRAND
Kunisawa is the stationery line of Kawachiya, a Shimbashi, Tokyo printing house with deep craft roots; the brand launched in 2017 and carries the Yatagarasu three-legged crow as its emblem—a nod to “guidance” for business and creative work. Kawachiya’s modern company lineage dates to 1971, while the house traces its craftsmanship back to the Edo period.
Unusual, the pure object elevates gastronomy to the rank of an art book and gives pride of place to text, graphics, and creative papers. If the Epure is indisputably recognized as a culinary publishing house, then we must understand the branch against the current, off-beat, at the limit of the iconoclast.
