This year’s shincha—the season’s first harvest of Japanese green tea—offers a rich, vibrant flavor and the fresh aroma unique to young spring leaves. Picked in early spring, shincha (literally “new tea”) is prized for its lively, delicate taste and higher levels of natural sweetness and nutrients.
After a long, snowy winter and a slow, steady budding—like the cherry blossoms—the tea plants thrived in crisp April air, spring rain, and generous sunlight.
Enjoy it hot or cold: brewed with hot water for a light, refreshing taste with gentle astringency, or cold for a smooth, cooling sip on warmer days. The flavor shifts beautifully depending on how you brew it.
Ippodo Tea is established in Kyoto since 1717.
