This playful handbuilt vase pairs a speckled white neck with a rounded yellow base that feels almost botanical—like a bloom caught mid-transformation. Glazed with subtle drips and flecks, its curves bear the mark of the artist’s hand, giving the piece an organic, evolving presence. A one-of-a-kind vessel that blurs the line between sculpture and function.

THE BRAND
CATTO Design Studio was founded in Brooklyn, NY, by Dutch artist Mariette Groen. Influenced by her Dutch roots, daily life in New York, and extensive time spent in India, Italy, and London, her ceramics are hand-built or wheel-thrown using a wide variety of clays, glazes, and kiln techniques.
Experimentation and unpredictability are integral to her process: “When I work, one thing leads to another. It’s very organic, and pieces are always unique. You open the kiln, and there is a big surprise; I love that.”
CATTO’s pieces balance beauty and function, designed not only as decorative objects but as pieces to be cherished in daily use.
