SOLD OUT
Dogabi Sculptural Jar No. 10 stands as a fierce yet captivating guardian—a face split between laughter and growl, tradition and fantasy. Hand-thrown and sculpted by Hyung Jun Kim at THR-Ceramic Studio in South Korea, this monumental piece embodies the dual nature of the Dogabi spirit: playful trickster and benevolent protector.
The jar’s wide-eyed expression and gleaming 23.5-karat gold teeth seem almost alive, its fired surface carrying traces of heat, story, and mischief. Though shaped as a vessel, it’s entirely sculptural—an object of awe and humor that commands space rather than contains it.
This piece will be on view at Takamichi Beauty Room in New York on October 22.
WHY IT’S SPECIAL
Part of Hyung Jun Kim’s acclaimed Dogabi series, each work transforms Korean folklore into tactile mythology. This jar’s scale, color, and texture reveal the artist’s command of both tradition and experimentation. The high-temperature oxidation firing deepens the clay’s tone, while the British 23.5 K gold accents catch the light with an almost supernatural gleam.
A modern relic of the unseen world, Jar No. 10 bridges ancient spirit and contemporary art.

THE BRAND
Dogabi by Hyung Jun Kim
At once mythic and modern, Dogabi is a living expression of Korea’s folkloric goblins—spirits believed to inhabit everyday objects. In Kim’s hands, they become contemporary talismans: vessels of mischief, wisdom, and light. Each piece is hand-thrown, carved, and glazed at his studio in South Korea, transforming clay and fire into material myth.
