Dogabi Vase No. 292 captures the mythic spirit of Korea’s dokkaebi in a sculptural form both playful and formidable. Hand-thrown from white porcelain and finished in a green-blue celadon glaze, the piece reveals a one-eyed face whose grin glints with 23.5 k gold. Crafted by ceramist Kim Hyung-Jun at his THR Ceramic Studio near Seoul, this vase bridges the sacred and the mischievous — an object that seems to laugh quietly at its own beauty.
WHY IT’S SPECIAL
Each Dogabi is a one-of-a-kind spirit brought to life through clay, flame, and imagination. Fired twice — first at 2,282 °F for its porcelain body and again at 1,472 °F for the oxidation glaze — the work achieves a depth of color that shifts with light, echoing wet stone and forest moss. Gold horns and teeth accent its supernatural grin, while the interior opening makes it a functional flower vase or a standalone sculpture radiating personality and myth.

THE BRAND
Created by Korean artist Kim Hyung-Jun, the Dogabi series reinterprets traditional dokkaebi — folkloric goblins known for mischief, justice, and metamorphosis. Each work is hand-sculpted at THR Ceramic Studio in Goyang, Korea, where Kim merges ancient pottery methods with surreal humor. The result: modern myth made material — a collection of spirited forms found exclusively at Takamichi Beauty Room.
