Dogabi Oil Lamp No. 858 captures the lighter, more mischievous side of the dokkaebi — the mythical Korean goblin known to both guard and tease. Hand-thrown from white porcelain and sculpted by Kim Hyung-Jun, this three-eyed creature glows in a serene sky-blue glaze, accented with gleaming 23.5 k gold horns and teeth. When lit, the flame seems to awaken its expression, giving life to a goblin spirit somewhere between delight and awe.
WHY IT’S SPECIAL
Each Dogabi lamp is a meeting of utility and imagination. Fired twice — once at 2,102 °F for the porcelain body and again at 1,472 °F for the glaze and gold — the piece achieves a smooth, translucent sheen that radiates softly under lamplight. Both sculptural and functional, No. 858 brings folklore into the modern home: part talisman, part companion, entirely one of a kind.
