Dogabi Oil Lamp No. 841 brings a darker, more enigmatic side of the dokkaebi spirit to life. Hand-thrown from white porcelain and sculpted by Kim Hyung-Jun, this piece features a stormy charcoal glaze offset by luminous 23.5 k gold horns and teeth. Its wide-eyed expression feels halfway between ferocity and delight — a guardian caught mid-laugh. When lit, the oil flame flickers through the porcelain surface, animating the Dogabi’s grin and giving it an almost breathing presence.
WHY IT’S SPECIAL
Every Dogabi oil lamp is a ritual object — meant to light both space and imagination. Fired first at 2,102 °F for structural strength and again at 1,472 °F for glaze and gold, the finish achieves a metallic sheen that deepens under lamplight. The pierced construction and cotton wick make it fully functional, while its sculptural silhouette stands on its own as a vessel of protection and play.

THE BRAND
At THR Ceramic Studio in Goyang, South Korea, artist Kim Hyung-Jun reinterprets the traditional dokkaebi — Korean goblins of luck and mischief — through a modern lens.
