Dogabi Incense Burner No. 324 channels the irreverent humor and fierce spirit of Korea’s mythical dokkaebi. Hand-thrown in white porcelain, sculpted, and pierced by ceramist Kim Hyung-Jun, this one-of-a-kind piece is finished in layered glazes of sea-green and sky-blue, with dramatic black horns and gleaming 23.5 k gold teeth. The hollowed form allows smoke to rise through the open mouth and nostrils, animating the goblin’s face as if it were exhaling incense and laughter in equal measure.
WHY IT’S SPECIAL
Part of Kim’s ongoing Dogabi series, No. 324 combines ancient Korean firing traditions with a surrealist imagination. Its pierced decoration makes it fully functional as an incense burner or tea-light holder, while its sculptural presence commands attention on its own. Each Dogabi undergoes two high-temperature firings — one at 2,282 °F for its porcelain body and another at 1,472 °F to set the glaze and gold — creating the distinctive depth and luster that defines Kim’s work. Both charm and guardian, it’s a small vessel of myth that watches over your space.

THE BRAND
Created by Korean artist Kim Hyung-Jun, the Dogabi series brings the legendary dokkaebi — mischievous goblins who reward virtue and punish greed — into contemporary form. Each is hand-sculpted at THR Ceramic Studio in Goyang, Korea, where Kim merges centuries-old craftsmanship with the wit and unpredictability of folklore. The result is a collection of modern relics — animated, humorous, and fiercely alive — found exclusively at Takamichi Beauty Room.
